Basic Course of the Voluntary Rescue Service (Vapepa)

This is a basic-level course with no prerequisites.
The course may extend slightly if participants have many questions.
During this course, you will gain an overview of Vapepa’s operations and the wide range of activities available within the organization.
The course will cover the following topics:
NGO’s role in the Finlands society and legal points for NGO operations
Vapepa’s operating models and training opportunities
Vapepa’s alarm groups and the alarm process
The role of volunteers in supporting authorities
There will be short breaks between sections.
The course is free of charge and organized by Operators of Volunteer Rescue Service in Finland with collaboration the Study Centre Sivis and Finnish Red Cross Helsinki and Uusimaa region..
You will participate via a Teams link, which you will receive along with pre-course materials. Please review the materials beforehand, some of the materiali is in Finnish hope you will understand the videos.
We will also use the Mentimeter program during the course (available at https://www.menti.com), which can be accessed via a smartphone or web browser.

The Voluntary Rescue Service is a network of over 50 organizations and partners, bringing together volunteers to assist in emergencies. You can become a Vapepa volunteer by participating in a basic course organized by member organizations and joining a local alarm group afterward.
